In 5 more hours the craziest shopping day of the year will start. Earlier today I was driving around and noticed a line forming at the doors of a major electronics retailer, that was at 9:00 PM. This was the first time for me to see such lines forming, these folks take it really seriously: sleeping bags, tents, loads of coffee. Someone even had a tent and a power generator in his truck to generate power for his laptop!!
It must be crazy for the stores as well. From stocking up on all the popular items to staffing extra personnel on the floors to help customers.
For all the above I am glad I don’t run a retail store. I operate an online store instead. My online store sells Egyptian jewelry (among other things). I always wonder why I choose to sell that type of merchandise! I am sure it started out with the promise of making tons of money but over time that alone cannot keep you motivated. I think it is mainly because it is a way to bring happiness to someone. Take for example this Ankh silver bangle, a customer buys it for his wife who is absolutely crazy about any thing Egyptian, particularly Egyptian jewelry. Needless to say the wife was very happy and that reflected very positively on our customer.
The other benefit of having a store that sells Egyptian jewelry is not having to worry too much about what is fashionable this season. It is one of the benefits of selling jewelery fashioned after a 7000 years old civilazation.
Well, I guess I can’t conclude this article with making a sales pitch to the reader. Here is a 10% discount coupon for you, good on everything in stock except gold items.
