Where do we go from here?

You probably wonder what this blog is about anyways, right?

I have been posting notes for the past few months without actually having a good answer for this question. Last night I tried to put myself in the reader’s shoes, what would a visitor to this blog be interested in? more importantly, what would be so interesting to him or her that will make them come back regularly to read more.

I know what would interest me personally in the blogosphere: technical geek stuff, search engine marketing, some world news and politics and maybe something seasonal - topics that are hot only during certain times of the year.

Well, so what would a visitor of a site for selling Egyptian carotuche and Egyptian gifts like to see in that site’s blog? buying a gift is something you do only occasionally. Some people do a bit of research to find a nice gift but I can’t think of anyone who would constantly tune to the same blog just to stay up on the latest in gift ideas. A forum for exchanging ideas among community members would probably be more interesting to the casual gift buyer.

I got stuck at this point, took a break watched some TV and had some cookies and milk.

The milk helped, It dawned on me that what I was trying to do is offer my experience to my prospective blog readers. My experience in Egyptian gifts, merchandising, customer tastes, latest offerings from Egypt, intimate knowledge of the producers and details of the products. Now that would certainly appeal to store owners interested in selling Egyptian gifts and jewelry in their stores.

I thought to myself this is a brilliant idea, I change the format of my blogging to address a different audience, wholesale and dropship customers of Egyptian gifts. We’ll see if that works.
