Egyptian perfume bottles

Khan Al-Khalili is an old market located near the center of Cairo city in Egypt. As any tourist that ever visited Egypt before, this is one of the must-see parts of Cairo. As you enter Al Azhar area you are greeted with wafts of strong spice aromas that engulf you in thousands of years of history. As you get nearer to the entrance to the bazaar area the aromas get stronger, suddenly you find yourself in narrow cobblestone streets with small shops on both sides. Automotive traffic stops and yields the narrow streets to hundreds of pedestrians, from tourists satisfying their curiosity to Egyptians going about their daily routine.

The shops in this area sell everything from spices and perfumes to handmade wood crafts and mother of pearl boxes. The most notable thing though is the glass perfume bottles. You will usually find them in small shops that sell the bottles and also the perfume oils. These bottles are made of clear glass and are hand blown one piece at a time. The sizes and shapes range from the tiny (less that one inch) to the fairly sized ones (7 inches tall). Such adorable bottles have lots of uses in addition to holding perfume. They can be used as very nice decorative pieces around the house. I have seen them before on horizontal surfaces to create a nice tablescape maybe near the house entrance or in the living room. It can also be used in bathrooms to add a bit of ambience to that space. Perfume bottles are very popular as friendship gifts but even more popular as romantic gifts. Their elegance combined with their delicate nature makes them a true winner of love and affection. We can’t conclude without pointing you to one of our favorite sites that specialized in wedding favors, there you will find another great use for these cute little bottles as wedding and shower favors.
