How do I choose a cartouche pendant?
There is a wide variety of cartouche styles available today. Whether you are looking for a gold or silver Egyptian cartouche, there are a number of styles to choose from. The first choice is the open style cartouche, an outside cartouche frame with the symbols attached to the frame in an elegant form. This open cartouche is so called because it is see through. The other major cartouche style is the solid back cartouche. This is a solid piece of gold or silver that is shaped like a cartouche. The edge is raised a little and the symbols are attached onto the inside space. Solid back cartouches are available in single side or double sided.
Cartouches come also in a variety of frame styles, the simple solid frame is the most popular and is very classic. You can also find cartouches with Filigree frames or the new ones coming out summer 2006 with various symbols from Ancient Egypt attached to the frame. I have seen at least two styles, one with an Winged Lotus Filigree style and the other with Winged Cobra style.
